I really enjoyed BAISE-MOI. I enjoy all manner of rape/revenge exploit flicks and this one was another decent one to add to the collection. Violent, graphic and uncompromising, director Virginie Despentes and co-director Coralie’s BAISE-MOI is guaranteed to be of interest to underground exploitation films. The plot of BAISE-MOI revolves around a pair of misfit females who after having some bad experiences, team-up and go on a rampage of unabashed sex and violence throughout France. Having been exposed to violence themselves, Nadine and Manu decide to dish out there own brand of “female-empowerment� on a whole slew of unsuspecting victims... The graphic sex scenes are pretty short and unarousing, as BAISE-MOI isnt a porno film. Instead, BAISE-MOI uses graphic sex and strong violence to tell its tale of empowerment and freedom. The violence can be brutal at points, but is not very gory. The way the film was shot and acted made the scenes come off almost comically, which is probably a good thing. Otherwise, this may have been a very dark and depressing film (that I probably still would have enjoyed...). I hope that with all the hype that BAISE MOI received, and being that this film has been relatively successful despite, or maybe because of, the over-the-top sex and violence, that other underground filmmakers will have the balls (so to speak) to step up and make more confrontational, explicit films for the growing underground market.
