LUCKY SKY DIAMOND (1989) (aka BLOODY FRAGMENTS ON A WHITE WALL, LUCKY STAR DIAMOND, SHIROI KABE NO KEKKEN) Dir: IZO HASHIMOTO Director Izo Hashimoto’s (of EVIL DEAD TRAP 2 fame - also available from wtfdvds.com) LUCKY SKY DIAMOND is another strange entry in the Japanese extreme gore genre. Not too sure about some of the story-line in this one, Visual-Pain’s copy has no subs/dubs (as all copies of this film are) but heres what I was able to decipher: A twisted male and female scientist do experiments on a delusional woman. They eventually do brain surgery on the girl, and then she tries to escape. There are some pretty weird things going on in this one, for example: during the brain surgery scene, the two scientists break into dance(!) and then the woman gives the guy a blow job in the middle of the surgery(!!). Later on when she tries to escape, the male scientist breaks out of a cardboard box and chases her around wearing the box with weird facepaint on(!!!)... LUCKY SKY DIAMOND is just plain strange all around, and also has some decent gore scenes. Those that have seen EVIL DEAD TRAP 2 should know what to expect. Hashimoto has a strange, surreal style that fans of the more bugged-out Japanese splatter films will find appealing. As a side note - many mistakenly believe that LUCKY SKY DIAMOND is part of the infamous GUINEA PIG series (also available from wtfdvds.com) - it is not. It is a stand-alone film, but is very similar stylistically to some of the GUINEA PIG films, hence the confusion. Anyone who digs the more bizarre Japanese gore films should definitely give this one a go.
